Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford (born April 14th, 1980) was an American actress, singer, and dancer. Her first appearances on Broadway include in the musicals Wicked Legally Blonde and Hair. Her first Tony Award was given to Ashford for her performance as Essie Carmichael, in You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh Ashford, a Tony Award-winning actor as well as director, has spent the bulk of her career working with prominent directors and actors on stage and screen. Ashford is scheduled to be in the role of Kumail Nanjiani, in Robert Siegel's Hulu exclusive Welcome to Chippendales. It premieres on the 22nd of November. Ashford is currently involved in Searchlight Pictures' horror film Dust with Sarah Paulson alongside Ebon and Moss Bachrach. As a Hulu Original, the film will be a part of Disney DTC's platforms. Ashford will return to Broadway in the month of March 2023 in which he'll be starring alongside Josh Groban opposite Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. The production takes place at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Thomas Kail (director) and Jeffrey Seller (producer), the same team who created Hamilton is directing the production. Ashford was most recently seen in the role of Paula Jones in Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on the National Crisis which put Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp at the center of the first impeachment proceeding in America over an Century. Ashford appeared for two seasons on the CBS hit comedy B Positive. Created by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre the series also starred legendary performers Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No stranger to Broadway Ashford won the Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her portrayal of Essie In You Can't Take It with You. Sunday in the Park with George Wicked legally blonde and the originating part of Lauren In Kinky Boots were among her other Broadway roles. Ashford, who was born in Denver is now based in Los Angeles and New York.
