Nadia and Carol

Nadia Comaneci was born on the 12th of November, 1961 in Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej (now Onesti), Romania. Nadia is the Romanian Olympic gymnast. She holds the record for being recognized with 10/10 scores in an Olympic competition. Bela Karrolyi, the Romanian gymnastics coach who later became her coach later on found her around the age of six. The year 1969 was the first time she participated at the Romanian Junior Championships and finished 13th. She was awarded the championship in 1970. She won three golds in her first competition in a junior pre-Olympic meeting in 1972 that was held by communist bloc countries. The following year, 1973 as well as 1974, she became the junior champion in all-round competitions. Her debut as a senior in the year 1975, she defeated Russian Lyudmila Turkishcheva, the five-time European champion, winning four golds and one argent. She was the first woman ever to successfully perform a backwards double salto when dismounting from an uneven parallel bar. Carol Marie Wayne is a US citizen born September 6, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois. Carol started her entertainment career when she was in her teenage years. Her first job was as a figure skater performing with her younger twin sister Nina Wayne as part of the traveling entertainment shows known as Ice Capades. The shows featured ice skating which included stage performances.
